What to establish before acting
A published small-business offer is not automatically a quote for a larger interval-metered account. Identify the electric distribution company, rate schedule, supplier, usage shape, and contract term. Compare the applicable utility supply baseline with matching supplier components and periods. Gas choice is a separate utility-program inquiry. PECO, PPL, Duquesne Light, and FirstEnergy territories should not be treated as one tariff, and enrollment acceptance must be tracked independently from signing.
Illustrative decision boundary
An illustrative Pennsylvania business compares a 12-month offer with one current utility price that changes before the year ends. Extending that current baseline unchanged is an assumption, not verified savings. Show alternate baseline scenarios and include recurring fees.

Questions & answers
Where is the official electric shopping entry point?
PAPowerSwitch is the Pennsylvania PUC’s resource, including a business section. Verify the utility and class and obtain an account-appropriate offer rather than assume every posted product applies.
Will a supplier change remove delivery charges?
No ordinary competitive purchase removes the distribution tariff. Keep energy supply, demand, network charges, taxes, and fees separated in the model.
Is price-to-compare always the total bill rate?
No. Establish the applicable included components, class, and pricing period. Total bill divided by kWh can include costs outside that supply comparison.
Can I leave an existing agreement for a lower offer?
Review notice and termination provisions first. Utility processing ability and release from a commercial contract are separate questions. Obtain any required settlement or accommodation in writing.
What about natural gas shopping?
Identify the gas distribution utility and eligible program separately. Normalize therm, Mcf, or MMBtu pricing and review transport, balancing, and delivery scope.
Does a fixed unit rate set the monthly payment?
No. Actual consumption, demand, delivery, taxes, fees, and exclusions can change. A budget-billing payment arrangement is also different from fixing a defined supply component.
