Energy Contract Expiration Tracker

Starting values are hypothetical. Replace them with your own figures. Inputs stay in this browser and are not included in the energy inquiry.

  • Illustrative contract dates and terms. Verify your executed agreement.
  • Calendar reminders do not provide notice, change a contract or create an automatic monitoring service.

Read the notice clause before entering a deadline

Find the effective end date, required notice period, permitted notice method and any renewal provision in the executed agreement. A requirement to provide notice before expiration can differ from a notice window that opens and closes on specific dates. A business-day rule, receipt requirement or named local time may also affect the deadline.

This tracker subtracts whole calendar days only. If the agreement describes business days, a range of allowable dates, a renewal anniversary or an evergreen term, determine the operative deadline from the document and obtain clarification where needed. Do not assume that a calendar reminder represents legal compliance or that the last service day is necessarily the notice reference date.

Choose review time that precedes the notice date

Enter a review lead at least as long as the notice requirement. A hypothetical contract ending December 31, 2026 with sixty days of notice produces November 1, 2026 as the calculated notice date. A ninety-day review lead produces October 2, 2026 as the planning start. These are examples of calendar-day subtraction, not recommended notice terms.

Allow enough internal time to find bills, confirm authorized contacts, compare offers and review documents. A business with several service points may have separate end dates and notice terms for electricity, gas or different locations. Run the tracker for each agreement and label the resulting calendar entries so staff can identify the responsible account without putting full account numbers in a broadly shared calendar.

What the calendar download contains

The downloaded ICS file contains three all-day events: begin the review, verify the notice deadline and the contract end date. Import it into a calendar application and confirm that all three dates display as expected. The date calculation uses calendar dates consistently so daylight-saving changes do not shift a reminder by an hour or a day. Leap-day inputs are checked as real dates.

The reference date is used to show days remaining and to stamp the calendar file. Change it if you are reproducing an earlier planning exercise. A negative remaining-day result means the entered expiration has already passed relative to that reference. A downloaded file is a snapshot; editing a contract here later does not update an already imported calendar.

Create an accountable renewal workflow

Assign a person to review the agreement and record the confirmed dates in the system your team actually uses. Keep the contract, amendments, supplier correspondence and proof of any required notice together. Verify receipt when the agreement requires it. An internal reminder should trigger a review well before a contractual action becomes urgent.

Supplier pricing, account eligibility and contract terms still need a separate comparison. Avoid terminating service before confirming the replacement process and any consequences under the existing agreement. Use the break-even calculator for stated exit costs and the offer comparison tools for modeled price differences. The tracker itself stores no ongoing task, sends no email and does not monitor your calendar after download.
