Identify the seller and intermediary roles

A broker, affiliate or technology platform may help collect data or present a price without being the retail seller. Obtain the contract’s actual entity and the intermediary’s authority, compensation and scope. Permission to price an account should not silently become permission to execute a supply contract.

For an Eligo proposal, verify the applicable utility and business class as well as the seller. For Constellation, use the same meter schedule and requirements. Neither company’s general corporate description establishes which products, entities or services apply to the exact account at the quote date.

Evaluate tools by the work they support

If online pricing, account reports, invoice exports or multi-site administration matter, request a demonstration or written specification relevant to the business. Do not assign value to a claimed platform merely because it exists. Determine who maintains the account data, resolves errors and remains responsible after a contract is signed.

The price comparison still needs the same load, start, term, component scope and fees. A quick online quote and a custom proposal can differ in included risk and eligibility. Review volume tolerance, added or closed sites, renewal, credit and early termination terms rather than assume a convenient workflow implies a better agreement.

Hypothetical channel-fee comparison

Assume 600,000 kWh annually. An invented supply quote at $0.092 produces $55,200. A second at $0.09 produces $54,000 but adds a documented hypothetical $1,500 annual service fee, totaling $55,500. The headline rate advantage becomes a $300 higher modeled cost.

These numbers are not Eligo or Constellation offers or typical fees. If the service genuinely performs needed work, the buyer can evaluate that value separately. Do not invent a staff-time saving or count an unstated ongoing service as included to justify the higher total.

Make authorization and follow-through reviewable

Keep the quoted price, named seller, intermediary disclosure, account list and service commitments together. Confirm existing notice obligations and which person in the business may accept the contract. A platform or intermediary should operate within the authorization actually granted.

After an approved change, verify the supplier and cost formula on the bill and test any promised reporting access. This guide makes no live-price, licensing or service-quality ranking. It helps compare both the supply agreement and the channel’s documented usefulness, with the customer retaining clear decision authority.

Questions & answers

Does using a broker portal authorize a contract automatically?

Authority depends on the actual agreement and customer permission. Price access should not be assumed to authorize execution.
